 An Idea About Magic

I thought of an idea to make this game a little more difficult and make it easier to know how much damage a spell or ability will use.

Imagine this, each spell and ability has three levels to it. When they first learn the new spell or ability they start at level one. They can increase the level of the spell to two by paying 2000 gold. They could THEN unlock the third level for a total of 3000 gold. Each level will do either

A. More damage
B. Something else that's useful to the caster

It would allow us to easier keep track of just HOW powerful the spells we're using are

I suppose... I would like to use the word "Tier" for this, as we have our typical upgrades as is, This only adds an effect. And this would allow the advancement of who beats who when it comes to an epic DBZ kamehaha deadlock of sorts. (You know, when they spend 4 episodes browning their pants and making fancy lights!)

The Pros!

Our current upgrade system says: Fireball that explodes -> Fireball that explodes and fire lingers on continuing damage.

Your system suggests: Flamethrower meets waterstream. He who has the higher tier would have the better advantage of overpowering the other.

The Cons!

Well isn't this what Magic Power is for? It strictly dictates here,

Magical Power: The actual power of the energies you wield. the stronger the stat the more concentrated forces of your favored elements/energies you can wield.

Id hate to over complicate things, while it makes for a nice number cruncher and more complicated actions can be achieved. I worry that it may confuse and deter new members.

The owner (Galvesar) wishes for a lax and casual RP place. I honor his wishes and too many rules and options kinda takes from that Idea.


Either way Ill shoot this towards galv, see what he thinks on the matter! I honestly like it, so MEH.
